Storage Northwood Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Storage Northwood to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery has no place within our organisation.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Northwood has a clear, zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and all forms of exploitation. This commitment applies to every aspect of our activities, from the operation of our storage facilities to the procurement of goods and services that support our business.
We expect all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to uphold this zero-tolerance stance. Any breach of this policy is regarded as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.
Our Operations and Supply Chain
Storage Northwood provides storage and related services to individuals and businesses. While our direct operations are primarily based in controlled environments with relatively low risk of modern slavery, we recognise that risks can exist in our extended supply chain, particularly in areas such as property services, maintenance, equipment, and goods procured for use in our facilities.
We are committed to engaging only with suppliers and partners who share our values and demonstrate a clear commitment to ethical working practices and human rights.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We are progressively embedding modern slavery considerations into our supplier selection, onboarding, and review processes. Suppliers are expected to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights legislation and to prohibit forced, bonded, or involuntary labour in any form.
As part of our due diligence, we assess new and existing suppliers for indicators of modern slavery risk, considering factors such as sector, geography, and the nature of the goods or services provided. Where appropriate, we seek confirmation that suppliers have relevant policies and procedures in place and that they conduct their own due diligence on their supply chains.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Northwood is developing a risk-based approach to supplier audits. Higher-risk suppliers may be subject to more detailed assessment, which can include requests for documentation, responses to targeted questionnaires, and, where feasible, site visits or independent verification.
If any concerns arise from these audits, we will work collaboratively with the supplier to agree a corrective action plan and timeframe. Where serious or unresolved issues are identified, Storage Northwood reserves the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers, and any other stakeholders to report concerns about modern slavery or unethical conduct in connection with Storage Northwood or our supply chain. Reports can be raised through internal management channels or via our whistleblowing arrangements, which allow concerns to be raised in confidence.
All reports will be taken seriously and handled sensitively. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. Where appropriate, we will investigate concerns and take action, which may include engagement with authorities or support services.
Training and Awareness
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier engagement. Training and guidance are designed to help colleagues recognise warning signs, understand our zero-tolerance policy, and know how to escalate concerns.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Northwood acknowledges that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to regularly reviewing and improving our policies, procedures, and controls to respond to evolving risks, best practice guidance, and legislative developments.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed annually by senior management to assess the effectiveness of our approach and to identify opportunities for improvement. Updated versions of the statement will reflect progress made, key actions taken, and any enhancements to our systems and controls.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage Northwood and represents our current position and commitments in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking.
